Cornucopia is a simulation game designed to educate youth about climate, water and land resources, and sustainability in our food systems.
This game was born out the Climate Game Jam — an event hosted at the California Academy of Sciences and in partnership with NOAA, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Smithsonian Institute.
Myself and Rik Panganiban organized this event, recruiting five teams of game developers and leading them through a weekend-long game creation sprint. Afterwards, we collaborated with the winning team to further develop this game, prepare it for use in the classroom, and test it out with hundreds of educators in the Bay Area.
To date, Cornucopia has been accessed by over ten thousand youth nationwide.
